Before I had my son I used always watch 'super nanny' with Jo Frost. I think she is just absolutely amazing with kids. For those who live under a rock and haven't seen it yet, its about a families who call a nanny because there children has gone out of control. The kids are bossing the parents around, while the parents just don't know what to do any more.  Its very interesting to watch how she getting very thing where it should be, the parents in charge of the kids. Jo's most famous thing that she does is the naughty corner or naught step. My son is 16 months and I have noticed in the last month that he is trying to get his own way a lot and if he doesn't its a huge fuss. So I implemented the time out. Which is, when you place your child that has been misbehaving onto a step or a chair.

First step is to warm the child that what he/she is doing is wrong and to stop. When they don't listen give them a warming that they will be placed in time out. When they keep doing what is told of them not to then take them onto timeout space and set the time. A minutes for every child's age. I put Rhys in his cot for a minute and a half. I warn him first though. You might say that he is to small to be put into time out as he is only 16 months, but believe it or not he understands. I have had to put him into timeout for different reasons like putting up war and not going into his pram. I simply tell him that he will be in timeout if he doesn't go into the pram, when he does not I just take him up to his cot. When he comes out I ask him for a sorry, kiss and hug, he gives me hug and kiss and goes into the pram with no problems. Now all I have to say is 'you will be going into timeout' and he doesn't do what he isn't allowed to do.

I would recommend this method showing the child that your the boss to anyone who has a child. 16 months onward's is the time to pinch it on the bud. That way they see that your not joking with them and when you say to 'not to do something' they know you mean business. I forgot to mention that if your starting at 16 months or a few months older make sure to put your child into a confined space with no toys, as they get older put your child on a step or have a bold corner so that they know that they have done wrong. Don't keep changing your timeout space as it will confuse the child. I think that's for this post. Make sure to leave me comments and suggestions too.
